*** Full-Time Family Assistant/Mother’s Helper Needed near Quilchena Park to Start ASAP, Earn up to $40/hour!

A warm family of four in Vancouver is looking for a positive, patient, and caring Family Assistant/Mother’s Helper to support their household and two children, ages 9 and 1.5 years.

Schedule: Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM-6:00 PM. Flexibility to occasionally adjust the schedule or help with an evening when Dad is travelling.

The Role:

1.) The morning from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM is typically focused on care for the family’s toddler, as well as family assistant tasks while he is napping. These tasks include:

- Taking their 1.5-year-old to the park, on walks, or to nearby toddler classes
- Supporting the child’s daily routines and providing engaging, warm childcare
- Preparing and serving simple meals and snacks
- Tidying and organizing children’s spaces
- Assisting with laundry
- Light kitchen and household tidying
- Walking the family dog
- Keeping track of the older child’s medical supplies and letting the parents know when supplies are running low
- Unpacking and organizing medical supplies as they arrive
- Preparing some meals for the older child and assisting with medications as directed
- Helping keep the household organized and running smoothly

2.) From 3:00-6:00 PM, the role is focused on care for both children, alongside a parent or grandparent.

Over time, the family would like the Family Assistant to learn their older son’s care and routines and eventually become a trusted backup caregiver when his primary nanny is away.

The Ideal Candidate:
* Warm, positive, caring, and patient
* Comfortable working collaboratively alongside Mom and another nanny
* Interested in child development and learning
* Organized, responsible, and attentive to detail
* Comfortable learning about the older child’s individual care needs
* Experience supporting children with disabilities or complex medical needs is a strong asset
* EA, education, or child development experience is an asset
* Comfortable with a dog
* Comfortable working alongside parents or other caregivers

Their 9-year-old son has Down syndrome and complex medical needs. Because the family’s older child is medically vulnerable, health and illness precautions are very important in this household. The successful candidate will be required to wear a medical mask while working.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term relationship with a family, support a busy household, and gradually develop their skills caring for a child with additional needs.

Driving is required, and a vehicle will be provided for work-related purposes.
